Episode 17: Show Notes.
A common misconception about dieting is that there is a one-size-fits-all program that will automatically give you results. This is not the case. Tuning in, you’ll hear her thoughts on hormonal barriers to weight loss, and she addresses misconceptions and truths. There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to weight loss and hormones, as each and every one of us is so different. However, Dr. Harbottle offers some great perspectives on things that we can look for and start to change within our daily routines. When you look into your own hormonal panel, you can get a clear idea of a regime for yourself, depending on how your hormones behaving. Let’s Be Real: Mental Health – A Switch in Perspective: How Family Adapts
Episode 14: Show Notes.
Mental health is real; just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. It is okay to feel the way you feel. It’s just a matter of finding your way out of it and not letting it suck you into an unhealthy situation. If we could all be a little more honest with each other, how much less lonely would we all feel? Our guest today is Hayley McLean, who is part of our extended family. Today we give some context to our honest conversation about the other side of mental health. We share some of our stories about watching our husbands struggle and how that affected our world, and how we wanted to be there for them and oftentimes fell short. 012. The Stigma Surrounding Body Image During Pregnancy: All things Pregnancy During COVID-19
Episode 12: Show Notes.
We have all been affected by the pandemic in many ways, from feelings of isolation to forming different habits and finding new ways of connecting. Joining us on the podcast today to talk about her experiences of pregnancy during 2020 and into the new year, is personal trainer and pilates instructor, Hayley McGowan! Hayley is a beautiful and powerful mother-to-be and she gets real with us about the journey and challenges she has faced along the way. We talk about loneliness, and the separation from loved ones that she has had to endure, with Hayley explaining how difficult it has been going through pregnancy in this way. Hayley also shares her thoughts on the issues of body image and people's comments on the changes we experience as a baby grows inside us! There seems to be a bit of a mismatch between what many people think is appropriate to say to a pregnant woman and what is actually supportive and considerate. Internal and external expectations can weigh on us so heavily and Hayley is very open and honest about the parts of this she has found most challenging in the last year or so.
